photo of meOur Pastor:  Karen Seifert became a licensed local pastor in 2013 and has had the pleasure of serving and participating in many ministries.  She currently attends Millsap College ministry education program for local pastors.  She holds a bachelor’s degree in Biblical Counseling.  Prior to being called into ministry she worked in the corporate world as an executive administrator, quality control administrator and quality auditor.  After hurricane Katrina she began her own business as a virtual administrator, this company provided an opportunity for other moms with special needs children to work at home while caring for their child.  She is also the founder of a non-profit 501(C) helping the homeless.

Besides being a pastor, she enjoys camping, fishing and traveling to new places exploring history, and discovering new things about her family genealogy. She enjoys spending time with family including her four-legged family members, Rosco and Brandy who are spoiled terriers.  Her life scripture is John 3:17 “For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him.”

john mahoneyWorship Leader:  John Mahoney and Dorien (his spouse and our resident pianist) has been serving in this capacity among many others for many years.

Yes this is John with “The JOHN MAHONEY BIG BAND,” which first organized in 1992, has performed at the IAJE Conference in 2000, the JEN Conference in 2010, the New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival in 2014 and the Bill Evans Jazz Festival in April of 2016. Comprised of 18 of the most talented reading and improvising musicians from the New Orleans region, the band plays at Snug Harbor Jazz Bistro several times each year. A CD of ten of Mahoney’s big band compositions entitled In From Somewhere was released in 2001. A second CD from 2009, Christmas Joy, showcases Mahoney’s arranging skills. In 2015 Michael Rhiner’s composition entitled Battle of New Orleans: Score for Unity was recorded. JOHN MAHONEY is the retired Coordinator of Instrumental Music and Jazz Studies and Professor Emeritus in the College of Music and Fine Arts of Loyola University in New Orleans.

Children’s Ministry Coordinator: Kay Dupuy. Kay Dupuy has a love for children’s ministry. She was born into Metairie UMC and has never left. The only formal children’s education she has is from the children who have taught her. She grew up in the 50’s-60’s, with Sunday School, perfect attendance pins, MYF, and UMW, both local and district levels. I guess you can say it’s in her blood. She taught her first Sunday School class because one little boy needed a teacher. She loves watching the children grow in
their faith and learning wonderful Bible stories. As soon as a child is born, they are brought to the front of the church for Children’s Time. Kay believes a child is never to young to hear God loves them. There is also no ending time to when a child quits coming for Children’s Time because God’s love for children does not stop because they are a certain age.

Kay also enjoys singing hymns, old and new ones. She plays “around with” the piano. She took her first lesson at 40. And, she is getting to know more about children everyday watching and loving her twin grandsons.
